The age of the truck shouldn't matter much. Commercial trucks like that are made to last a LONG time. With a little maintenance the "homeowner" could keep it chugging along for another fifty years or so... if fuel and parts availability isn't a problem.

The main issue you'd run into is the same one you face with modern versions... zoning issues/restrictive covenants. I'd like to live in something like that... but I'm quite sure I could find no place in Wisconsin where I'd be allowed to. The Peoples Republic of Madison sees to that through one method or another.

This blog post entitled in Swedish really grabbed my attention in while catching up on my feeds in NetNewsWire. Yes, Google Translate is correct this time. "Mobila Hem Sedan 1963" really means "[KABE] mobile homes since 1963"

And, yes, in northern Europe Kabe is a well-known Swedish brand-name for caravans and recreational vehicles.

On it's webpage http://www.kabe.se/ </a> the company presentation proudly mentions Kabe has been around since the early sixties</a>.

I think we can assume the picture represents the journey the company has taken from the first efforts to the luxury of today.

I do not speak Swedish but Google language translates the logo on the edge of the picture to read:

KABE mobile homes since 1963

KABE makes mobile homes

The first time I fell in love with a tiny house was when my girlfriend's father built an exquisite little house for her and her dolls in the backyard. Ever since then I have dreamed of building tiny houses on my property -- haven't done it yet, lol!

Apparently house trucks have been popular (so to speak) for quite some time.

Love It! You know that reminds me... a nationally known truck rental company... that I personally despise... sells their old trucks and you can get a diesel truck with an 18" box on it for something like $5000. Actually I think Bill Kastrinos has one of these for pulling his Tortoiseshell houses.

Anyway these used trucks seem like a good value for someone looking to build a house on the back. Or keep the box it comes with and use it for towing your tiny house and hauling stuff. Sure looks like the truck under the tiny house about is about the same size.
