WOW, thats a very nice tiny house. That plan could meet all my criteria for a small house.
I LOVE the wraparound porch, it expands the home in warmer weather. This is reminiscent of the Sears Catalog houses 🙂

love it !!! and the best thing is there is divider bw the loo and hand basin so no spray from the toilet splashing germs all over it…. one of my pet hates in small 3 piece bathrooms…

I just finished going through the price calculator just to see. Not including labor or shipping, the shell of the 317 sq foot house is about $13K. That includes doors, windows, porch, siding, and slab foundation.
Seems like quite a deal.

I love the landscaping the most.

Agree with Deborah! Must have a tub!!! And I have a shallow porch. Rocking chairs work well on these. You could have a deck for an eating area. I could never live fulltime without big closets, but I do love the concept & think it would be great for a vacation home.
the porch is too shallow to be usable. It looks nice, but all you can do is sit facing out. no tables
Sit on the lawn if porch is too small / shallow. Or set out pavers in front of porch to make a small patio……..that will enlarge the space
Love it! it is a great small house floor plan – and would even work well without the upper level at all!
The picture appears to be the 555 sq foot model from their site; called the Cascade. Ran the pricing calculator and it came in at just under $20k with the slab option. However, I don’t believe that actually includes the slab of course… it’s just configured for a slab. Either way, it’s a beautiful looking small house that i would love to have. My wife even likes it.

Once upon a time Sears sold homes out of their catalogues and all the materials would be dropped off as if you ordered anything else from their catalogue. I’m not old enough to remember this, yet had a college mate who lived in one. It was the coolest house.
They do say, everything comes back into style!
Any idea where this is? I live in Charleston (about 25 mins from Summerville) and would love to see it. Also, any idea who built it?
I know that Tim from Southern Fried Homes has a link to house in a box on his website and that he is a builder. My wife and I are seriously considering building a small home on a vacant lot in Downtown Charleston and I love to see options up close.

I have been working with them on other ventures for 5 years and am very excited to see this launch and to be a part of it, both with our plan offerings and the contracting component in the Lowcountry.

I just found your tinyhouseblog.com site and have thoroughly enjoyed looking at the variety of homes and concepts displayed.
These HIAB homes are beautiful. I especially love the rendering under “Case Studies” (http://www.houseinabox.com/case-studies/residential-14-acre-concept)that could work for multi-generational living. One could build a main cottage for the family, a cottage connected for an aging parent and an apartment over the garage for caretaker or returning college student,all on 1/4 acre!!!
great plan…. looks like it could become universally accessible without much modification. Not inexpensive to build, however.
Kent, the one thing that constantly amazes me is the not only the breadth of what you cover, but the quality of it as well. Checked out their website, and it looks incredible. My wife and I are looking to move out of California, and this kind of thing almost looks like it could be built anywhere, and would suit our limited needs well. Even if we’re stuck in CA for a while longer, we could build something like that, and when we move, sell it and at least get our money out of it.

I need to live like this. I went on a tiny house binge last year, but it seemed that it had died out around 2009. I’m so glad to see this happening again.

Love this! As our stuff is almost exclusively books I had an idea for those who need a little extra storage. You could opt out on the fire place and substitute a floor to ceiling built in case on one side and a small sliding door closet on the other. Just thought I’d share the idea. 🙂
Any updates on the interior?
If they could make a few changes like extending the porch a few feet longer and a couple others I will buy this pending financing. This comes out to over $40,000 without labor. You have to pay in full before they start construction. I dont have that kind of cash but should have 20% down pending amount of Labor.
If anyone got any one of their models please share love to see one finished. Im sure Im not the only one.
I would swap the bathroom and the kitchen and take out the center wall. Then use a Resource Furniture fold-down wall bed. It will DOUBLE the living space, and make the bathrm convenient to company.
Put a bar in front of the kitchen with stools on the KITCHEN side, then back a loveseat or sofa in front of it, so you could sit at the bar, eat/drink and see the tv, centered on the opposite wall.
You don’t use the bed during the day, so why let it take up so much space 24/7!!!

This is the house my wife and I are going to build on our property in TN. We currently live in FL. I’m thinking about making the 7 hour drive to see this model first hand. Has anyone seen the inside yet?

I fell in love with the outside look of this home, then even the inside, it is just perfect, I am a senior and need a bedroom on main floor, I wish this home for myself and live in the Northeast, so just an electric fireplace on the wall would do it for me. 🙂
I would need to add a walk-in closet off the bedroom, abutting the porch. And I would probably make the loft bigger. Otherwise I love it. Just wish there were lots in municipalities that allowed small homes.
