Costco Aston Shed

For anyone who is looking for an affordable, modern style frame for a tiny house, ala Cabin Fever, take a look at the Aston Shed by Yardline and Costco. From now until November 11, this shed will be on sale for $1,000 which includes delivery. The shed is 10 feet by 7.5 feet and Costco is selling it as a storage shed or as a small office or living space.

The shed weighs about 1,100 lbs, is 9 feet high at the front peak and contains three transom windows and a 64 inch double door. The front deck shown is not included, but it looks like it might expand the house nicely if you were to build it yourself. Heck, at this price, I would buy two of these sheds and put them next to each other.

The structure comes delivered pre-cut and includes 2×4 construction, a sold wood floor, pre-hung doors with piano hinges and wall vents. There is also a 15 year warranty. The shed will take two people about two days to complete with a hammer, cordless drill and screwdriver. The owner will need to supply their own caulking., interior and exterior paint and roof felt and shingles

Costco and Yardline recommend checking your local building codes before ordering and they don’t deliver this particular shed to Florida at this time.

  1. Not very practical for Minnesota, but I like them! Something about that shed roof, with those transom-esque windows above the doorline, really speaks to me. Like the style!

  4. I have built a slightly different model of one of these. The only problems were a couple of pieces pretty bowed/twisted, but nothing I couldn’t work with. The angle of the trusses was off, so I had to reinforce that. Last, before you start lay everything out and measure and RE-MARK each piece (if the label has come off. The shed has held up and been totally water-tight.

  5. Before you consider using this as a dwelling, a studio, or office where you will spend lots of time, please check into the hazards of treated wood. Both the framing and the siding are treated products; there is no interior sheathing that might help keep these products from outgassing directly into the interior. None of the windows appear to open so venting would rely on keeping a door open, at least partially. You want to be especially careful of exposure for pregnant women and young children. Please, be safe and do your homework.

    • By the time its manufactured, packaged and shipped, received, unloaded, and placed at sight to acclimate…the outgasing has already come and gone.

  6. Off Gassing is or should be a ‘point’ where the ‘nose’ meets ‘reality’! Reality is ‘Gas’ can make you sick! It may even be ‘deadly’! But, hope prevails; make sure your ‘tiny spaces’ can breathe in ‘clean, fresh air’ without ‘frosting your toes off’!

Once, any space has been ‘cured’ dried out the danger level goes down, but must still be dealt with because of all the ‘innovative’ ways of heating and/or cooling ‘small and large spaces’!

If anyone goes to the ‘South’ La, Fl, and swampy places, give care where you ‘plant’ you small space! Swamp Gas, is gassy (Pun intended) its just as bad as; ‘Human Gas Relief, relief for the giver, not so much the receiver! Small Spaces does not have large ‘volume’ of sweet smelling Air!! Try it and you will ‘smell’ the truth!

This is FYI; not to preach, (I’m a Preacher) but to make people aware of their ‘Spaces’ and who shares that Space with them!!
