Harbor Cottage Tiny Houseboat

Hey my name’s Jimmy, and I’m with Harbor Cottage Houseboats harborcottagehouseboats.com

I’m really excited about this tiny boat. We build boats where the propulsion is optional – so we can build just a floating home, or a fully powered houseboat (with engines, generators, thruster, and helm); it’s totally optional based on what the customer wants. We usually build much larger floating homes and houseboats but I convinced my dad that the tiny revolution is where it’s at. The ‘tiny’ is just over 400sqft – it is 16′ wide and 52′ long from bow to stern swim platform. So it has plenty of outdoor space: a 12’x16′ front porch, a 10’x16′ bach porch with spiral stair case and access to a spacious 24’x16′ roof deck! The house structure itself is 15’x26′ with 2 bedrooms (king bed in master suite, and one twin/one full in the lower stateroom) and one full bath. For being only about 400sqft this boat has actually has a bathtub, stackable washer/dryer combo, a double-door 36″ GE refrigerator, and a full-size dishwasher! We can build these boats to order in as little as 90 days and ship them anywhere in the USA. We manufacture our boats from top to bottom in Somerset, KY including building our own aluminum hulls which are suitable for fresh and/or saltwater applications. HGTV has already filmed the build on this boat and it will air on Tiny House big Living on HGTV on November 13th and DIY Network on November 2nd. At Harbor Cottage, our goal is to make living on the water, house-boating and recreating on our waterways affordable and accessible for all Americans!

Our entry level (base) price is $129k right now which includes the roof deck but not the hot tub, roof bar or extra amenities that are on the show boat – that’s for a floating unit and you can add whatever engine package from there.

We are building our second tiny right now and our hope is to get the base price down to $99k for a floater. It takes a couple iterations and scale to get making them more efficiently.

That show boat has some super expensive granite, a pop-up helm, murphy bed and all kinds of LED rope lighting and accent lighting, etc. It also has a roof bar, hot tub, slide and diving board and the “show model” price is $239k. Show model also has 250HP stern-drive bravo 2 mercury engine, side-power bow thruster and a 14k Westerbeke generator set.

Everything we build is coast guard and NMMA approved.

  1. I love it. I think it’s beautiful. It has everything I need. I love the island in the kitchen. There is plenty of space every where in the house.

  2. This is beautiful. A dream come true. Does it come without a slide, hot tub and dishwasher and replaced with something else?

  3. We have four houseboats on our lake. Three are large older models and one is a smaller version. Our lake also has about 200 float cabins that are anchored on remote water lots with leases from the BC government. Living on the water is a wonderful experience whether it is in a mobile or stationary structure. – Margy
