If you’re thinking about moving into a tiny house, small camper, or other little space you will want to take a look at the new “Tiny Transition Downsizing” e-course offered by myself (Mariah) from cometcamper.com. The e-course is based on my personal experience downsizing, and is a series of challenges and methods that I have used myself. The cool thing about taking the e-course is that you will be in a supportive environment of people who understand what you’re trying to do by downsizing, and are there to help and motivate you. I know from experience, sometimes people in our lives don’t “get” what we’re trying to do by simplifying our lives, and it can be discouraging. My helpful, fun, and challenging step by step tasks will get you on the path to smart-sizing, simplified freedom in no time. You want to own the stuff you have, not the other way around!
We’re not only talking about downsizing our belongings either: I’m going to be helping you minimize your emotional baggage with techniques that I’ve used myself to gain freedom. We’re also going to talk about simplifying and downsizing our expenses and bills, which is all a part of finding a simpler life. Even if you’re not ready to move into a tiny home (in whichever form that may take for you), but want to declutter your space and mind, this course would be good for you.
This e-course is designed to help you go through the process I went through when transitioning from 4 large bedrooms (1200 sq ft) full of crap into a 100 square foot camper. Once a week, on a specified day, you will be emailed a course session to complete at your convenience before the next week. You will have access to the other people doing the class with you in the form of a private Facebook group. This course is designed to jump-start the downsizing process with specific instructions (things I have done myself) and provide motivation in a helpful, supportive space.
During the e-course, you will explore your personal goals for downsizing your lifestyle, learn how to digitize your belongings, see which areas in your life are the best to start this process with, and practice fun and challenging exercises in order to de-clutter your home and your life, all while meeting and connecting with like-minded people on the same journey as you.

There is nothing like the freedom that a downsized life brings. When we did it, there wasn’t much information out there, and what there was came mostly from Europe and Asia. It is nice to see someone step up and provide the resources needed to make the transition easier. There are many things I would have done differently, but I only learned that after the fact.

Before you start looking for a builder, go to your local city or county offices and check the building codes. Most have minimum requirements for new structures and require permits. You definitely do not want to build something only to have to tear it down. Any legitimate contractor does this for you but you might want to save some money checking into it yourself. Once you find out if the house you want is legal, then look for a contractor.
Don’t forget there are companies advertising at this site that build their tiny houses on a trailer so you just tow it to the site. That is real nice in case you move later.

I think this is a great idea – the private facebook group will be awesome for students to talk amongst themselves and share ideas. I will be signing up once I get paid at the end of this week! I’ve seen Mariah’s videos online and have followed her blog – I think she’s awesome!
