I am excited to introduce Tiny House Magazine and its Preview Issue hot off the (virtual) presses and available in the NewsStand for the Apple iPad. The goal with the magazine is to reach a new audience via this new media. At this time the Tiny House Magazine is only available for the iPad but I am hoping to be able to migrate it to the Android and Kindle in the not to distant future. I may also offer a pdf version though it will not have all the interactivity built in.
The Tiny House Magazine is an unique experience that takes advantage of the iPad’s interactive capabilities. Because it is connected to the internet it can take advantage of videos and other interactive web related formats. By simply clicking a play button you can view a video right within the magazine. It’s a whole new reading experience has the the ability to link to other websites and blogs!
I, Kent Griswold, am the editor and publisher of Tiny House Magazine, but I intend to feature all of the prominent people in the Tiny House Movement. In the Preview Edition you get a taste of what will be coming in future editions.
Below is the cover and contents of the first issue. As readers of the Tiny House Blog I want you to experience the Tiny House Magazine first hand and at no cost. Use the Coupon Code THM3 and you will receive three months of the magazine free. You then will have the option to subscribe for future issues if you so choose. Please share the code with your friends and families – with anyone who has an iPad and is not familiar with what is going on in the Tiny House Movement. This magazine issue is designed to give an overview of the tiny house movement and includes FAQs, a movie, and much more to show the world what it is all about.
Here is how to input the Coupon Code:
- Download the Free Tiny House Magazine App
- In the Newsstand Click on the Tiny House Magazine
- Click on Yellow Subscribe Button
- A popup comes up with several choices
- Click on the “Current Subscribers” button

The Tiny House Magazine is now available in PDF Format. Click Here to purchase it or go to http://www.tinyhousemagazine.co/pdf-magazine
I hope you enjoy this new media and will pass it on!
Is this just for those with iPads? Is there a way to access the magazine on a regular laptop (Macbook)?
I’m wondering about availability for Macbooks, too. I tried in itunes but nothing happens even though it goes through all the motions of downloading. ????
I would love an Android or PDF version of the magazine if it is possible… thanks
Yeah, I have a Samsung Galaxy tab and I can convert it via Calibre. I think. The Tab has Amazon Kindle on it. Hm…..
Nope, can’t convert it to Itunes compatible.
Would be interested in a non-ipad version!
I would be sad if it is just for folks with ipads. Please tell us how else we might be able to get this magazine….
Would love this mag, but I have a desktop. When you decide to offer it to the rest of us, please let me know. Until I get a tablet (and probably not an I-product because I can not afford one) I will wait, sadly. 🙁
Please make this available on google play for us Android tablet users.
AWESOME!!! I hope you get it in Kindle format fast (the only way I can read it) 🙂
Would love to read it but not on iPad…Android, Nook, pdf, etc.
how does the promo code work? I dont see anywhere to input it.
Let me check into that I thought it was part of the process. I’ll get something up in the post real soon!
where do you input the code for free issues?
Oh please get it for Kindle! This is one of my dreams come true! The other being having a tiny house of my own!
I agree with the others who like the idea and have expressed interest in more than just an ipad version. There are many times more desktops than there are tablets!
This is a good way to determine interest. Thanks for everyone’s comments.
It won’t work on the iPhone? I guess a PDF option would be good. I’m pretty sure you can have some interactive capabilities within PDF’s (links, embed movies, etc.)
I downloaded the THM app, however , I saw no place to submit the code to get 6 months free. I followed the link in your article, and was redirected to the app store. It did say “free” for 6 months. So I’m hoping I did this correctly.
I really enjoy and am inspired by the Tiny House Blog. Thank you!
I’m trying to figure out why that is not working, I’ll get back to you ASAP!
Bummer it’ only available via Apple products. Being environmentally conscious, I will never own an Apple product until they get with the rest of the tech world and go with micro USB. They are the only manufacturer in the world that uses their own adapters (still). They just did it with the iPhone5, making everyone get new adapters and charging docs. It’s such a waste on the environment. apple puts their own being trendy and exclusive above the environment and it’s customer base. I am a huge fan of the Tiny House site, but this move is going to make me second guess supporting it. Let me know if you have plans to move away from Apple products Otherwise, you’ve lost my support. :-(.
If you’re keeping track of demand for other formats, I’m a nook user who would like to subscribe.
I’ll put that on the list. Thank you!
Ken, I am thrilled beyond belief! For the longest time, I have moaned and groaned that there is no tiny house magazine…..now this dream has come true! Yay!!!! I read all the posts about the tiny houses and look all over the web for more info regarding them. When my husband built our house from the ground up some twenty years ago, I had bought Lester Walker’s Tiny House Book. I gleaned the pages, longing for a tiny house (cabin) in the woods. Instead, we built a small house, about 1495 sq ft. While I wanted a cabin, we wound up with a “typical” house. A few years after the house was built, my husband suffered a back injury, causing him to become paraplegic. Our small house is now so hard for him to get around in….walls and doorways are so hard with a wheelchair. I still dream of a tiny open floorplan cabin, but it will probably remain no more than a dream, since having such a place built would be impossible. So, although I have no Ipad or way to see the magazine, I am still thrilled by its launch!!!! Congratualtions!!!!! I am sure it will be a success!!!!
Kent I wondered who was going to do this first. I’m excited that you did. This is awesome ! A great new dimension for the tiny house community. I’m looking forward to using this on my iPad . Can’t wait to see the first issue. Good luck with this venture.
Looks great, Kent. I’ve been enjoying the blog for a few months now and think this is a great step forward. But, just to satisfy the smart-ass grammatical pedant in me, please learn to use apostrophes correctly. FAQs doesn’t need one. “…the iPad’s interactive capabilities” does.
I’m really looking forward to having a look from an iPad!
Thanks Shawn, I’ll correct those!
Will it be written by people who actually live in tiny houses or just people making money off a trend?
Please Kent, work on an Android/Kindle edition!
Great Job Kent…Put in another vote for a inter ative Nook version
Hi Kent. This is exciting. I would vote for a PDF or Kindle version as well. The trendy iPad is just too offensively epensive for my needs and I would bet it’s made in China too, like the others. 🙂 Good luck with your new venture.
Hi – just subscribed to the magazine, and the opportunity to input the “Coupon Code THM6” never came up. Can you tell me what I did wrong? And can I get the credit for the trial anyway?
Looking froward to the magazine, and have already forwarded it to several friends.
Hi Skip, did you follow the instructions above? Yes, you can get the free trial but I think you will have to cancel it and resubscribe to use the coupon code. Keep in touch with me and I can arrange a special code for you at that time.
thank you!
pdf is good, but a kobo version would be nice to add to your growing list.
There are people reading this that can probably build a tiny house for the cost of an ipad!
I would also love to see an Android or at least a Kindle or PDF type, I am not a friend or fan of ianything…… Thank you.
I do not and never will use an ipad…too bad you are leaving a LARGE segment of your readers out of this loop…shame!
Janet if you read above this is just the start, a pdf format is in the works and other ereaders will eventually be available. They just are not at this time.
Hi, I went ahead a purchased the issue via the Newstand app on my iPad, but the magazine keeps crashing. It says too much memory is being used and to shut other apps… but it’s the only thing open. I have an original iPad, so maybe it just doesn’t have enough oomph to handle it, but I don’t have any problems with other magazines. Just FYI… figured you might want to know.
Hi Diane, the problem I’ve learned since publishing it, is that I have to many links and each time you open a new one it eats up more memory. Future issues will be less link intensive. Sorry this is all new to me too. -Kent
: )
pdf version please. Thanks!!!
I would be super interested in a PDF version, and maybe… just maybe… a Nook version? I can’t really afford an iPad, but I do have a Nook color 😀
I’d love to get an Android version! <3
Putting in my vote for a Kindle version or a PDF version. Thanks for doing this, Kent. I am so excited!!!!!
I vote for an android, kindle, or pdf file! PLEASE!! Thank you!
If /when you have pdf would be very interested in your magazine–will never own any apple anything!
totally love this idea but am all for a pdf version and/or a version for kindle app as well (also, android users make make up a huge chunk of potential virtual readership). Love this idea, Kent!!! 🙂
I have Kindle APP for PC on my laptop. Hope you make that available real soon.
This sounds so wonderful! I am sure it will have all kinds of great articles and information. I will totally subscribe if there is a pdf version available. I have no tablet and have no need to get one for a long time. You could always put links in the pdf for videos.
If you get a pdf version soon I will sign up! Thanks for all your hard work. 🙂
Hi, I Belong to The small house society and I was going to take advantage of the six months free subscription. I Messed up and picked the one month subscription. I tried to delete it. Now I’m stuck on 4.95 subscription. How can I delete and start over? Thanks, gery Holtz
This is amazing and I want to subscribe but I am one of us dedicated followers of THB with no iDevice in tow. A pdf version would be indulgence enough, speaking for myself at least. 🙂
PDF version work in progress. I will let everyone know when it is available.
I don’t use iTunes..looking forward to other options like the pdf version…thank you..its beautiful!
Looks exciting, I’ll be waiting for the kindle and/or pdf version. Thanks Kent!
I cant find the yellow buton to subscribe for the free trial– Also how do i send you anaricle about my little house? 288 sq ft -just finished it
Hi Jenny, please send article and photos to tinyhouseblog@gmail.com. The yellow button should be their when you are at the subscribe page. Let me verify that though. – Kent
You need to download the free app than the yellow button will show up and you can input the coupon code.
A kindle version would be nice. There is even kindle app for the pc, just google “kindle for pc”.
The only contact I have is a regular desktop computer. No I- anythings except me, myself, and I. Would love to see it available pdf or through your blog.
Love that it’s for the iPad and nice you have a PDF version making it accessible for everyone! When I downloaded it from the App Store, it said FREE, so I didn’t have to input a coupon code.
Okay, once it downloaded, I saw the yellow Subscribe button and with your simple directions above, I input the coupon code with no problem. Thanks, Kent!
I would love to have it for my kindle and pdf
I love the tiny house concept, my husband and I think this has great bones for a retirement home for us.
I would LOVE to be able to read your magazine, Please make a Nook or pdf version!! I don’t own and will probably never buy an IPad…
I’ve been able to download the main portion of the app, but the magazine itself isn’t downloading.
I think I’ll agree that a PDF version make more sense AND its platform neutral.
Put me down for the .pdf version as well. No ipad.
Another request for the PDF version for us folks using Netbooks. (I have an ancient hand-me-down iPod Touch that I use for books & music, but most new apps don’t work on it.)
I’ll give another vote for Nook. Or PDF.
Great idea! I want it!!!! Don’t have an ipad but have a nook and even pdf would be fine. Thanks so much for giving us another piece of Tiny Heaven!
TinaQ
…also I-PUDless, don’t plan on getting one either… LOL.
.PDF please.
Hello Kent,
I hope that when it does come available in other formats that the discount will apply ?
I don’t have a ipad, nook or kindle and I don’t plan on purchasing one either. I do however use an Android.
How long do you think it will take to make the Magazine available to the rest of us ?
By the way, I want to thank you for such an awesome idea and also for helping me to stay motivated in my quest to live Tiny.
Frank Rodrigues
Another vote for Nook! Thank you!
Just tried to get it on my iPhone, but it didn’t work. 🙁
Will it work with an iPod Touch?
Looks very cool, but need to get the Android version up and running soon for those of us who use a smartphone for Internet … will be watching for more information …. 🙂 Thanx
Another vote for pdf AND Kindle. Thanks!
I don’t have an iPad. It would be nice if we could download it right off the computer. Am interested in the subscription so hoping you get it where everyone can actually subscribe to the magazine without an iPad. Love all the ideas and look forward to more:)
I don’t have or want a mobile device but would love to get this magazine. I don’t care if it’s free or not, just wanna get it online or email or something that I already have. No luck?
Seriously! I don’t have an iPad nor do I plan on getting one in the near future. What about us other folks? I’m a serious fan of small living and have been following it for a few years now. Would really love to read the magazine, but sadly, I can’t. Bummer…
Kindle, PLEASE! Will Kindle / Nook users also get a chance to get a 6 month free trial? Thanks so much in advance!
Would also love to have the Kindle version. I’m not so into the hardcopy version, just means more I have to find a way to pass on quickly with my tiny living.
I’d love to see this available as a PDF, seeing as I only have access to a laptop & Iphone.
Congratulations and best wishes on your new venture! I love the cover! It is so inviting.
I don’t have an iPad or Nook or anything else – just my laptop. I hope every tiny house lover who has the right equipment will support you.
Hooray for you!
I don’t have an Ipad and I don’t want one. I think there definitely needs to be another version available for those of us that don’t want to use newfangled technology to read the awesome information. The magazine looks like it will be amazing! Please update when/if you choose a less technology based medium for which to disseminate the info.
I love the idea of your magazine, but, Apple?
I’ll lend another vote for pdf format. Thanks!
I vote for PDF version!
Thanks for your prior blog posts, good luck with your venture. Unfortunately for me, that’s not a format I’m interested in.
I’m out.
I’m for PDF as well, have Adobe on my Macbook/iPhone
I would be thrilled if you could publish this in a pdf version. I, like previous responders, only have a laptop but am really intrested and look forward to supporting this mag.
I think the .pdf version would be great. Most computers can use the Adobe free reader. I believe the Kindle has support for the .pdf file format (I have a Kindle and check it out). I also have an Android phone (Samsung Galaxy SIII) and an Android tablet computer (Samsung Galaxy Tab).
From what I have seen of the e-zine, it looks really good and professionally done.
Another NOOK vote! I don’t have an IPad either and am obsessed with this stuff……don’t leave us in the dark!
If you get a pdf or kindle version, I would totally go for this! No plans to download or use Apple programs or products. Sadly, if those are the only options available, we’ll never get this. 🙁
Please make a PDF version soon…..or some version I can use on my laptop. I am so excited about this magazine but don’t have an Ipad or other apple product.
Thanks
Another vote for pdf version I can download on my laptop. Do not have and cannot afford smartphone, nook, etc., but a long time small house fan and would love to have access to the magazine.
Thanks for putting this together, it looks really fun! I would love to be able to subscribe to this!
Another vote for iPhone! I don’t have any ereader device aside from my phone!
I have an android e-reader. I’d like to get this in either PDF or CBR (if it’s in PDF I can probably convert it over to CBR).
I don’t have an iPad, Android or Kindle to view this on, but hope it’s successful. Would love to be able to subscribe on my computer.
PDF format would be fine for just about anybody (though might be small on phone screen). If it stays in “i-pad” format, no worries. I typically download just about any e-book and use a free software package (programmers would appreciate donations) called “Calibre”. This will convert just about any e-book format to just about any other e-book format.
http://calibre-ebook.com/
I vote for iPhone version and PDF 🙂
After reading all the blogs about this magazine, I say, if the editor of this magazine is serious in “reaching out” to others with the idea about going tiny, he really needs to consider in making this magazine available in… at least PDF format as well. Shouldn’t be hard to do this. It just makes good business since; after all, he did hit on a very marketable product here.
Bought it when it first came out, so missed six free months, but LOVE it!
Hi Lisa, if you want to unsubscribe and than resubscribe using the 6 months free code. Thanks for being one of the first purchasers. I’ve been struggling with a change of host for the blog so I put off making a general announcement about the magazine. -Kent
I’d like a pdf!
Thank you so much! I have just subscribed and opened — am excited about reading!!!
Please Please Please do a PDF…Please? 🙂
Would love to subscribe whenever I can do so using only a laptop. Great idea for a magazine! If it is as wonderful as your blog, I am sure it will be very successful.
Sure would be nice to have it for NOOK – not everyone supports or owns Apple products (and their support of slave labor).
Would love a subscription for Kindle or even PDF so please help those of us without Ianything to enjoy this deal too. Thanks.
I would love to read this. Security and FAQ’s immediately caught my eye. Can’t wait to read it, hopefully in pdf form…
Great delivery, I am sorry everyone is so upset by it being on the iPad. It really is an excellent device for so many things.
This is one of them, I’m all signed up and have read it cover to cover today. Thanks Kent for all your hard work.
PDF Please… Looking forward to receiving the magazine on my Dell. Great idea – Best of luck!
I would loooooove to purchase this magazine, but have an older iPad and it didn’t work:(
Hi Carolyn, I think you need to update the Operating System, my daughter had to with her older version for it to run.
Here’s yet another vote for a PDF and/or Kindle version of the magazine. Thanks!
I’d really like to get Ur free subscription offer, but don’t use anything but my Phone. I’d sigh up if I could.
I’d really like to access this magazine but I don’t have an iPad 🙁 Still wishing you every success! 🙂
sorry, but i cannot open in MS windows without
PDF please!
In the works and also working on Issue #2 and a website for the Magazine. Lots to do 🙂
I think this is a fabulous idea and I’m so happy (unlike a lot of folks)that you are persuing the iPad publishing idea. It’s a great idea. I currently have an iPod touch but I plan on getting an iPad soon. I am very much looking forward to reading the mag.
Please make it so we could download it right off the computer. Would love to subscription so hoping you get it where we can subscribe to the magazine Love it !!look forward to updates.
Can not find any listing in my iPad Touch – newstand listings! ?? Where did it go?
As soon as you’re Android-compatible, I will subscribe. I love tiny houses and what they represent!
Not making this available to just computers is taking a large cut out of the interested market. The baby boomers are more likely to have computer but not all the other stuff. Like me! We are planning on building a tiny home and would love these resources but won’t be able to tap in.
Would love to see an actual Magazine, I love to be able to look back and get ideas. So please let me know if and when they ever go to print. Currently don’t have an iPhone.
I screwed up and just got the first issue free. Is there any way to cancel my subscription so I can use the code?
i also only get thefree button what am i doing wrong?
i cant find the yellow subscribe thingy….
It’s a great idea and I’d subscribe in a heartbeat…if I had an iPad. I hope you make it available in PDF soon, so that everyone can read it!
Nook or Kindle would be okay, too 🙂
I hope you make the full version available on for all iTunes users ie., personal pc’s and not just iPad. I love Tiny House and would devour the contents instantly.
Annie
I’m all for PDF and Kindle versions… can’t afford an iPad just yet.
This is exciting! Congratulations on the new venture! Would the iPad version work on iPhone? I have one of those, but not an iPad.
no, I downloaded it and it would not sync with my iPhone; seem’s to be only for iPad
And maybe I’m too conservative, but I don’t understand why this magazin should be read with an apple device only, I imagined this movement a bit more off-grid, off trendy…
Hey. Followed the link and dl the free app, but don’t see a spot to subscribe. I don’t have an ipad and won’t be getting one, but thought I could still subscribe via itunes for now and maybe view the mag when the pdf comes out or something. I do have a kindle, so I hope you can make it compatible. A hard copy on recycled paper would be BEST!
How exciting! Yes, please make it ready for the Kindle Fire as soon as possible. The iPad is a bit out of my range. Best of luck with this wonderful and needed endeavor.
Most definately a PDF version, PLEASE.
Having it only for the iPad and only on iTunes severely reduces your audience. Apple, according to the WSJ, only can claim a little less than 7% of the total market. That’s 93% of fans and aficionados shut out. I’m looking forward to the PDF, but will not get an iTunes account just to get it.
Cannot open on itunes without ipad… would love to see a pdf version!
PDF version coming soon!
thanks for the reply…can’t wait as I enjoy your blog so much!
I can’t wait! We are planning to build a tiny home this year, so please(!!), we are anxious to see the ideas in your Tiny Home magazine.
The cover looks great, I would like to see the rest. Looking forward to a non-iPad version.
How can I contact you about writing articles for this magazine? I currently live in my van, and recently published this article about van life –
http://harrycloudfoot.com/2012/10/16/living-in-a-van-part-1-the-unexamined-life/
I’d love to write some stuff for you if you’re interested.
Thanks,
Harry
I would love to see this on Kindle Fire. I would order it right this minute. Love the blog!
Thanks, Rachel
I accidentally subscribed. How do you un subscribe?
Too bad this isnt available to rest of the world! Thats pretty dissapointing. It may have been better for the market as a whole to make the initial offering available in PDF before releasing it just for the Igeeks. Patiently waiting….
Any word yet on the PDF version?
Only iPad people get the advantage of reading this (I am sure ) excellent resource? What a bummer…..
PDF version coming soon, along with 2nd issue, stay tuned 🙂
Oh gosh, I just found this out and looking forward to you announcing the PDF version. I’m not real electronic-so I don’t have any of those phones or other things, only the computer. Can’t wait to see it.
I would love to see the rest of the inside of this tiny house. It is a tease really to show just this much of it haha
PDF….yes please. I would love to subscribe to your magazine…But I do not own an IPAD., just a regular old computer.
Looking forward to an android version of the publication and more articles on tiny house living for senior citizens /retirees. Many thanks, Janine
Hello! I love it. To things: I only received 1 magazine edition and secondly it takes up way too much memory. That needs to be fixed. I had to delete it because I had to close own everything else. Please provide update on fixes. Thank you!
For those with an iPad, you have to connect in iTunes. Once in iTunes, hit the “download” button and go to the magazine icon in your iPad. There will be a yellow button to subscribe to from there then just follow the remaining directions listed above to get your free issues.
AM I too late to take advantage of this promo
I currently live and work in the Middle East. I’m a nomad at heart, but as I get older (currently a creaky, ancient 36!) I think about the day when I am too old to work abroad anymore.
And I adore the tiny house movement. It suits my preference for simplicity, mobility, and independence, yet allows for community (and comes complete with the tiny house community). I’m looking forward to reading my new Tiny House Magazine subscription – I think it’s the motivation I need to start saving up for my tiny house!
Bummer that this is only available on iPad since I don’t have one. I do hope it becomes available for Kindle, although my basic Kindle isn’t that interactive. Still it would be nice to read the articles. Congrats!!
Sounds awesome, and I know I am just repeating what everyone else has said, but we really need it available through other venues, I literally have everything but an iPad…. 🙁 I was thinking I could put it on my macbook via iTunes or even my iPhone, but alas its an ipad only app, would be great to put in on my computer or if it worked via kindle apps I could do that too…. 🙂
Please make this available on the computer or, better yet, print an actual magazine. I do not own an iPad or a fancy phone. I do have a computer, but I am old-school and love to flip through magazines. I have been interested in tiny homes for quite a while, especially those that make excellent use of limited space.
Hi Kent,
Sorry to repeat what everyoneelse is saying, however, is it available for Android yet or better yet print form. Would be so happy to subscribe.
Look forward to your response.
Thanks much kate ( kateathebeach@hotmail.com)
Please make this Kindle, Android, or PDF friendly. I will purchase a subscription then for me and my siblings.
We are 77 & 82 and handicapped. We’d like to build a handicap accessable 8 x 20 version of a tiny home. I have a rough draft drawn and we have to download soon. Our house and 5 acres are TOOOO much for us to take care of anymore…physically and financially. Please HELP!!! Thank you, T&S Perhaps a fold-down ramp, solare energy, composting toilet, walk-in tub w/shower, washer/dryer, in-floor heat, sofa/bed combo, and whatever other ideas anyone may offer….
I meant DOWNSIZE NOT DOWNLOAD. Oh Dummy me!
Been trying over & over to download the information AND subscribe to your Tiny House Magazine. I guess you don’t want computer-illiterate senior citizens. I feel bad because it looked like the answer to our prayers. We DON”T want to go into a nursing home OR move in with any of our kids! Please simplify ordering your magazine!
Please, please, please make it available online or via PDF. I do not own iPad, nor am I planning to buy one. Thanks!
Yet another comment from an interested subscriber who is locked out because they have a Nexus 7 (and/or computer) and not an iPad …
Just another interested party without an ipad, and no interest in getting one.
So the sooner you port this over to a more available format the larger your audience will be.
I absolutely love the house on the cover of the Preview issue. Ay way i can more details on it. I do not own an iPad and can’t see myself owning one. Looks like a great magazine. Thanks.
I’d love to see this magazine but do not own an Ipad nor do I have any interest in buying one. Such a shame as we are so very interested in small house living and the magazine would be an awesome resource. Please reconsider!!!
Another iPad-less reader that would appreciate a pdf version.
I don’t have an iPad or SmartPhone (or want one), but I do have a Kindle or can read a PDF on my laptop. Is this available in those formats?
hey there!
is this ready for kindle yet?
or the actual mag?
thanks!!
Does the magazine come in a paper, regular magazine form? I would be so interested if it does.
Claire Melton
Hi Claire, no it does not. The best way to get a hard copy is to purchase the PDF magazine and print it out on your printer. It is extremely expensive to publish a print magazine and a tiny publisher like myself can’t do it.
Then why are you charging a LARGE price?
Any plans to make it for the Nook in the future? ::::fingers crossed:::::
does this mag come in print
No, the magazine is an online magazine. To small of a niche to afford a print one. Sorry!
