Learn Natural Building with SunDog School of Natural Building
The SunDog nine day workshop is designed to teach ordinary people the skills to build their own cob cottages, from the foundation to the roof. Our projects are small, most are under 200 square feet, and geared towards attaining a high level of completion in a short amount of time.
We’ll take you through an intensive, step by step, beginning to end, instructional course on how to: site/design, excavate, build a foundation, build the walls AND get the roof assembled on a small cob cottage.
This course, created by Bryan and Kirk, is the result of several years of experience teaching the “$1000 House” course at Cob Cottage Company.

Great pics…of a small straw-bale cottage. Seems to me they could sell the project better if they got their PR act together before soliciting us for $880/workshop/person.
These guys are awesome, just took a class with them and it was well worth the time and money. Lots of valuable information; fun, smart and experienced teachers, great food, and good times playing/building with mud. I highly recommended.
Building one of these doesn’t look like it is something you could do by yourself. At some point, you’d need to have someone else on the other end of something.
This is another feelgood type exercise in building a simple small structure.
The price of the workshop alone will build most of the same size structure with a floor and be quicker and easier out of lumber.
The labor and time used is excessive for the size.
This is more of a “lifestyle” project than a build.
Don’t get me wrong, it is nice little straw/mud type of build, but is more artistic based than practical.
