A Grant for Reclaimed Space

Tracen here from Reclaimed Space.

I’m trying to qualify for a grant from Chase through their Mission: Small Business program. In order to qualify, I need 250 votes in the next 11 days. If you are open to it, could you put the word out through the Tiny Home Blog? If we ended up with one of these grants, it would be a true game-changer for Reclaimed Space.

Here is the info on how to do it:

“Thanks to a program sponsored by Chase and LivingSocial called Mission: Small Business, your support could translate into a $250,000 grant. But we need at least 250 votes at missionsmallbusiness.com to qualify. To vote for our business:

Go to missionsmallbusiness.com and log in using Facebook. Search for our business by name (Reclaimed Space) OR filter by our State and City.

Click on the blue Vote button next to our business name to show your support for our business.”

Let’s step forward and help Tracen out here! I’m going over right now to put my vote in and show my support for what he is doing. -Kent (Editor Tiny House Blog)

  1. What about people who don’t use facebook… this is a good idea with alot of merit … but what about due diligence and the ability to pick from a list of contestants. I am over 55- and not part of the facebook generation. I support the idea… but are there some other options?

    • Unfortunately this is the way Chase set this up. Hopefully enough people will complain so that they will open it up to everyone in the future.

      • I hate to say it, Kent, but I’m with Matt. Facebook and these other so-called “Social Networks” are just big info harvesting combines that I avoid consciously. I support your friend’s idea and I’m sorry they will be missing out on my vote, too, but the fact that they set it up this way should tell you something.

        • Me, too. I won’t use my login and keep Facebook information to a minimum. I went into the “Contact Us” on the chase site and told them I wanted to vote for Reclaimed Space but wasn’t about to open up an app that captured my personal information in order to do so. I encourage everyone who is in the same position to give their feedback to Chase!

    • Facebook is a siphon for email addresses and personal data. Also you can’t even go to the LivingSocial website without having to give them your email first.

Best of luck to Tracen but unfortunately these types of programs are simply data “harvesters” and I don’t participate in them.

  2. You have my vote and congrats on reaching over 250 votes! Please consider my business Wood Tectonics – we manufacture architectural millwork and would love to be considered for a grant.

Thanks and best of luck to you!
